Dear subscriber,

Happy New Year! As we begin a new chapter in 2024, I would like to recognize your dedication and enthusiasm which made 2023 a remarkable year for our club, and I'm confident that the year ahead will be equally fulfilling. Our club thrives as our members continue to create a supportive community for dog enthusiasts.

In 2023 we hosted an obedience trial and two agility trials. The success of our trials speaks to the hard work and dedication of our members. I extend my gratitude to all the members who contributed to this achievement. We regretfully accepted the retirement of Sue Richey who served as the agility trial chairperson for 15 years. Happily, she continues to compete in the sport she dedicated so much time to.

We added two new training options for members in 2023 with a Barn Hunt seminar and summer drop in nights. These activities provided opportunities for members to learn and practice new and familiar skills. It is our plan to once again offer the drop in nights this summer. We continue to enjoy working with Versa as our training and Obedience Trial facility.

Our commitment to community service continued this past year with our Fill the Bowl food donation event. Your generosity made a significant impact, ensuring that dogs and cats in need received the support they deserve.

As we celebrate these achievements, I want to emphasize the importance of our training instructors. We are always looking for dedicated individuals to join us in shaping the next generation of well-behaved and happy dogs. If you have a passion for training and wish to contribute, please reach out.

Before I conclude, please note that our Summer Break is scheduled from June 1 to July 29. We are planning four training sessions this year. They will be as follows:

Session #1: 1/23-3/12
Session #2: 4/2-5/21
Session #3: 7/30-9/24 (no class 9/3)
Session #4: 10/8-11/26

Please watch the GSDOC website for training session registration start dates.

Here’s to a year of continued learning, wagging tails and shared experiences that make our club truly exceptional.

Warm regards,

Alma Fong
