Golden Spike Dog Obedience Club (GSDOC)

GSDOC Website

Welcome to our January 2022 Newsletter!

IMPORTANT DATES & INFO:

WE HAVE RECEIVED MANY EMAILS WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT A VARIETY OF ISSUES WITH REGISTRATION. One of the biggest concerns we always receive is when members and non-members can't get into a class they want. This is done on a first come first serve basis and always has. We have to follow the rules for everyone involved. It's only fair to those who signed up early and on time. It's also only fair for the instructors to have a cap on their class sizes as well. When the class size is big, this makes it hard for our instructors to really work with you and your dogs. So this is why we put caps on the class sizes. You also need to remember that this club is all put together from volunteers making this happen. Every single one of us who makes this club happen all give up their time and talent to help better serve members and non-members in the club. Please be respectful and understanding with how we run things for the Golden Spike Dog Obedience Club (GSDOC).

If you have any more questions regarding this, please contact our club President Dana at dcrawfordslc@yahoo.com or training director Shea at sheagarcia21@gmail.com.

Session 1 class starts January 11, 2022.

Winter Social: Wednesday January 12th, 2022 at the Pleasant View Library from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.. This will be a baked potato bar style. Please RSVP to our club Vice President Alma at alma3peet3day@gmail.com by January 5, 2022 so we can get a head count for food.

Agility Trials will be held at the Weber County Fair Grounds in the riding arena on January 28th- 30th 2022. If you would like to volunteer to help with this event, contact Pat Milburn at patmilburn@aol.com

Next General Meeting will be on February 15th, 2022. WE DO NOT HOLD A GENERAL MEETING IN JANUARY!

Obedience trial will be held in March 2022. Stay tuned for more details to come.

Still LOOKING for a facility for our club to move to and wondering if anyone may know of any places. If you may know of a place we could rent to use or have any information on any buildings, please email our club President Dana at dcrawfordslc@yahoo.com.

Due to high demand and to make sure all our members are able to get registered for classes in the future, we are putting a cap on memberships for a little while. We will be posting and announcing when this lift is back in place. Thanks for understanding.

ATTENTION!!

We are still looking for help!!

Volunteering is something we are REALLY looking for at the moment. We need help with all different things to help make this club run smoothly.
  • Helping set up areas and taking things down
  • Putting up chairs and taking down after general meetings
  • and so much more!
Have you thought about wanting to become a dog trainer? Did you think it would be fun but you're just nervous about doing it? Are you questioning if you can train other people to train their dogs? If you're considering any of these things then look no further! Right now the G.S.D.O.C. is looking for assistant trainers. The classes that would be great classes to learn how to assist with other talented trainers are:
  • FIC (Focus Impulse Control)
  • CGC (Canine Good Citizen)
  • Puppy
  • Obedience 1
If you are really considering if you want to be an assistant or would like to volunteer, reach out to Shea Garcia our Training Director at training@gsdoc.org and she can help answer any questions you may have with this.
